According to the 2019 Labor Code, the next two public holidays after the Lunar New Year (Tết Nguyên Đán Ất Tỵ) in 2025 are as follows:

Hùng Kings’ Commemoration Day (Giỗ Tổ Hùng Vương)

Under the regulations, employees are entitled to one day off with full pay on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month. This year, Hùng Kings' Commemoration Day falls on Monday, April 7, 2025, which is the first working day of the week.

As a result, government officials, civil servants, and employees following the standard Saturday-Sunday weekend schedule will have a continuous three-day break from April 5 to April 7.

Reunification Day (April 30) & International Workers' Day (May 1)

To create a continuous break, the working schedule will be adjusted, allowing employees to take five consecutive days off, from April 30 to May 4. However, to compensate, employees will be required to work on Saturday, April 26.

For organizations and businesses that do not follow a fixed Saturday-Sunday weekend schedule, they can arrange their holiday schedules based on their specific operational needs. The drafting agency encourages businesses to adopt the proposed holiday schedule.

Working on Public Holidays & Overtime Pay Regulations

Due to work demands, businesses may request employees to work during public holidays and Tết. In such cases, this will be considered overtime.

According to Article 107 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees are not required to work on holidays unless they voluntarily agree. If they agree to work, they will receive overtime pay as per Article 98 of the 2019 Labor Code, which stipulates:

    • Working during the daytime on Tết is paid at 300% of the normal daily wage.

    • Working during nighttime on public holidays and Tết is paid at 390% of the normal daily wage.
